TVO resumes Doc Studio Contest

Ontario public broadcaster TVO has resumed its "Doc Studio Contest" for a third year. The contest invites Ontario-based filmmakers to submit a five-minute documentary film addressing a social issue. Submissions can be made by mail or online at <http://docstudio.tvo.org/contest> until March 28, 2014. A panel of judges will select five finalists, which will be posted to the contest website. Online public voting will determine the winner. The winner's film will air on TVO. Also, the winner will receive a pass to the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in Toronto, and spend a day on the job with filmmaker Peter Raymont.
"Documentaries that move me reflect the social, economic and political issues facing society," said contest judge Raymont. "We hope participants address issues in the spirit of making a difference. There is a lot that needs to be challenged today and passionate films that need to be made. But films with a cause must also be entertaining, featuring compelling individuals in the midst of change."
