Sponsorship roundup

Real estate development company Metropia has signed-on as a sponsor of the Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction. The prize, now in its 12th year, is given annually by the Charles Taylor Foundation in recognition of excellence in Canadian writing. The 2013 winner will be announced in March. "It is a pleasure to welcome Metropia as a major sponsor to the Taylor Prize family," said foundation chair Noreen Taylor. "Metropia has a history of supporting the arts at the highest level and it is very rewarding to be under the umbrella of their corporate support." Additional sponsors of the 2013 prize include RBC Wealth Management, Canada Newswire Group, CBC, The Globe and Mail, The Huffington Post Canada, Maclean's magazine and Quill & Quire magazine. In-kind sponsors include Authors at Harbourfront Centre, Ben McNally Books, Event Source, Indigo Books and Music, The King Edward Hotel and Kobo.

Manulife Financial has become a sponsor of Ontario public broadcaster TVO's Get Involved volunteerism program. Manulife's two-year sponsorship includes support for a series of short documentary films produced by Q Media Solutions. The films air on TVO and are intended to motivate people to work for positive change. The sponsorship also includes support of the Getinvolved.ca website, at which visitors can seek opportunities to volunteer. "With this partnership we have an opportunity to share the important message of volunteerism," said Nicole Boivin, chief branding and communications officer at Manulife Financial. "We are proud to be supporting this motivational documentary series and hope that it will inspire more individuals to get involved and invest time in their communities."
