Shaw Media readies two new specialty channels

Shaw Media of Toronto has extended its agreement with A&E Networks to bring two new channels to Canada: Lifetime and H2. Lifetime specializes in drama and reality programming aimed primarily at women. H2, which is aimed primarily at men, focuses on science, technology and pop culture programming. The agreement includes broadcast, online and mobile assets. In addition, existing specialty channel History Television will be rebranded as History. The new channels will debut in the fall. "A&E Networks is the force behind a number of the most sought-after TV brands and is recognized as a leader in pioneering innovative content," said Paul Robertson, group vice-president of broadcasting and president of Shaw Media. "Through our deepened partnership we continue to stake our claim as a frontrunner in the television industry and reinforce our unwavering commitment to giving Canadians access to the best possible content."
