Backbone begins Start Me Up Innovation Campaign

Toronto-based Backbone magazine and The Alpha Exchange have begun a contest promotion called the "Start Me Up Innovation Campaign." The contest, which is being conducted through a website at <http://www.backbonemag.com/startmeup>, is intended to encourage Canadian technology entrepreneurs to bring their products or services to market. Entrants must submit a business plan and market analysis and possess a prototype of their product or service. The winner will receive a prize package worth $95,000, consisting of seed capital, products and services, as well as a chance to pitch their idea to a panel of technology and business experts, and a year of online and print editorial coverage. "The campaign is consistent with Backbone's mandate of inspiring innovation and helping companies learn from other businesses," said Steve Dietrich, publisher of Backbone. "After the contest, it becomes a live case study. It not only allows for a great profile for the winner but will provide great stories for our readers. It is also an opportunity for Backbone and our sponsors to further Canada's overall competitiveness on the world stage."
