Paramount co-founds Indigenous Screenwriters Lab

Streaming video service Paramount+ Canada, the Pacific Screenwriting Program and advocasy organization the Indigenous Screen Office have begun a joint initiative called the Indigenous Screenwriters Lab. The program will provide support to six Indigenous writers working on a one-hour pilot script for a science fiction television series.
“This program is a direct result of months of dialog with our stakeholders,” said Doug Smith, senior vice-president of streaming and content licensing at Paramount Global Canada. “We are thrilled to work with our new partners at the Indigenous Screen Office and the Pacific Screenwriting Program on the Indigenous Screenwriters Lab. Writing is the backbone of any piece of content, so this initiative is of special importance to us. With Paramount's global experience and success in genre programming, it positions us to help these participants with first-hand experience and tangible guidance to writers in this space.”
