Canadian Tire begins testing new loyalty program

Canadian Tire has begun a loyalty program pilot initiative called the "Canadian Tire Money Advantage" in Nova Scotia. Consumers at the chain's 21 retail locations in that province can now choose to receive the company's current paper "money" or to collect loyalty points electronically on a card or key chain fob. The points can be redeemed for approximatley 90,000 products at Canadian Tire stores or donated to Canadian Tire Jumpstart or other participating community groups. "Eighty percent of Canadians visit a Canadian Tire store each year," said Rob Shields, senior marketing vice-president at Canadian Tire. "We value our customers' loyalty and the Canadian Tire Money Advantage program gives us one more way that we can be loyal to them. It offers program members the convenience, assortment and high value of one of the best loyalty programs in the country."
