COMPAQ CUTS NOTEBOOK PRICES, LAUNCHES PROMO

Compaq Canada Inc., of Richmond Hill, Ont. has cut prices on selected Compaq LTE 5000 Series notebook PCs by up to 10%. The Compaq LTE 5200 notebook PC was reduced by six per cent, while the Compaq LTE 5300 has come down by 10%. In addition, Compaq will give purchasers of selected Compaq LTE 5000 Series notebooks either a Targus executive carrying case or a 28.8 PC Card modem, both of which have a retail price of just under $500. There are no advertising plans specific to the price cut or the promotion, but the two may be incorporated into ads at a future date. Ammirati Puris Lintas of Toronto handles Compaq's advertising.
