ROYAL BANK OFFERS NEW STUDENT CREDIT LINE

Royal Bank will be offering new credit services to students returning to school this fall who are not eligible for government assistance or who cannot cover tuition fees themselves. The Royal Credit Line for Students offers all qualified students a credit line of up to $5,000 a year for undergraduates and $10,000 per year for graduate students at an interest rate of prime plus one per cent. Also part of the bank's Student Banking package is an option to get a Visa Classic II credit card, which carries no fees until the end of the next school year, and a Student Banking budgeting diskette. Radio ads will begin Sept. 3 across Canada as part of the advertising campaign for the bank's entire Student Banking package, which will run until the end of that month. Lori Galinis, Royal Bank's manager of the Student Banking program, told Adnews on Friday that there is also a camera-ready shelf ad which may appear in various university newspapers across the country. Advertising was created by Mongeau, Bacon and Chen, located in both Montreal and Toronto, while media buying was done by Royal Bank.
