TIERRA RELEASES NEW WEB SOFTWARE

Tierra Communications, Inc., of Kanata, Ont., announced Aug. 20 the launch of Tierra Highlights, a software product that continuously monitors, retrieves and highlights relevant updated information from Web documents. Available Sept. 1, it eliminates the need to sift through new and updated pages each day to find the nuggets of information which are of value. Upon detection of any new or modified information on a Web page, a visual alert is triggered and displayed to a user working in any Windows 95 application. The user, once notified, can then instantly view the page with the updated portion highlighted. Advertising will take the form of spots in several mail order catalogues, including PC Mall, PC Zone and PC Connection. That will begin in October, with other ads appearing in Web-oriented publications in January or February, Tierra's director of marketing Joanne Correia told Adnews on Friday. Benes Communications of Lexington, Mass. and Wilder and Fletcher of Jaffrey, N.H. worked on the creative portion of the campaign. Media buying was done by Tierra.
