Canadian National Railway has signed-on as a national sponsor of Ready When the Time Comes, the natural disaster preparedness program of the Canadian Red Cross. The company will assist the Red Cross in the recruitment and training of corporate employees to be community volunteers in case of floods, fires, tornadoes or other extreme weather conditions. The company will also participate in the preparation of emergency preparedness information and intervention strategies. "At CN, we feel it is our responsibility to help the communities in which we operate, and our partnership with the Canadian Red Cross will help us fulfill that objective," said Karen Phillips, vice-president of public and government affairs at CN. "We are proud to become a national sponsor of the Ready When the Time Comes program, a rewarding and innovative way to help in times of greatest need."
