SmartCentres prepares Henderson Jersey Homecoming Tour

Shopping centre company SmartCentres is readying a travelling promotion called "The Henderson Jersey Homecoming Tour." The initiative, which will being in January 2011, is being developed by Fuse Marketing Group of Toronto. During the tour, the jersey worn by hockey player Paul Henderson during the final game of the 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union will be displayed in various towns and cities nationally over a six-month period. The effort includes a branded trailer containing a collection of hockey memorabilia, personal appearances by Henderson, and a draw to attend a private experience with Henderson for five. The contest, which will run until Nov. 28, is being conducted through Facebook. "Fuse's track record made them a natural fit for this project and we anticipate an enthusiastic response from Canadians," said Peter Forde, CEO of SmartCentres. "This is a great opportunity to teach younger generations about one of the biggest sports moments in Canadian history and reconnect with a great source of national pride." Public relations for the promotion are being handled by Media Profile.
