Ikea Canada begins catalogue campaign

Home furnishings retailer Ikea Canada has begun a new campaign to mark the 60th anniversary of the Ikea Catalogue. The campaign also introduces the company's new Twitter feed, Facebook page and IPhone application. The initiative consists of transit, online, television and print advertising. The creative encourages consumers to upload their favourite images from the 2011 catalogue to a website at <http://www.capturethepage.ca> and use social media sites to share the image with others. Participants will be entered into a draw for a grand prize of $10,000. Secondary prizes of $1,500 and $500 gift cards will also be awarded. The contest will run until September 5. "We feel it is the perfect time to expand our reach to Ikea fans through the use of social media with sites like Twitter and Facebook," said Thom Kyle, marketing manager at Ikea Canada. "Our customers are active in all forms of social media and are communicating about our brand. We want to engage them further by facilitating additional conversation and sharing." Advertising for Ikea Canada is handled by Crispin Porter & Bogusky Canada, formerly Zig.
