Scotiabank readies Let the Saving Begin tour

Scotiabank will begin a national touring promotion on Aug. 16 as part of its "Let the Saving Begin" initiative. The program is intended to encourage Canadians to improve their saving, investing and borrowing behaviour. The campaign will consist of a series of events featuring television personality Valerie Pringle, who has signed-on in the role of "Saving Ambassador." Events will take place in Halifax, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver. Additional events will take place in the fall. In each city, Pringle will speak with Canadians on the street and in groups in an effort to educate them about the importance of saving money. The campaign also includes a website at <http://www.letthesavingbegin.com> and a Facebook page at which Pringle will post tour updates, photographs and videos. "We recruited Valerie as our Saving Ambassador because she is a well-known, approachable and trusted voice among Canadians, who will be able to draw on her background in journalism to get Canadians talking and engaged on the issue of saving," said Chris Hodgson, group head of Canadian banking at Scotiabank. "Valerie's cross-country tour is an important part of sparking a movement to get Canadians saving again and we look forward to her findings."
