Sponsorship roundup

The Ontario Science Centre in Toronto has signed-on as asponsor of this year's Scotiabank Caribana festival, which will take place from July 15 to Aug. 1. The sponsorship will include a number of activities, including a Junior Carnival on July 17 and the awarding of an Ontario Science Centre Innovative Costume Award on July 29. The centre will also have a tent at Marilyn Bell Park on July 1 and at Ontario Place on Aug. 1. "The Science Centre is excited to partner with Scotiabank Caribana in celebrating Caribbean culture and traditions," said Hooley McLaughlin, chief science officer at the centre.  "Many people may not make the direct link between science and the festival, but we want to introduce people to the mathematics and physics that inform the innovative creation of musical rhythms, and the mechanics behind the dynamic costumes."
