Postmedia Network hires senior staff

Postmedia Network of Toronto has appointed Kirk Allen to the position of executive vice-president of advertising sales. He will lead national ad sales for all of the company's brands and platforms. Allen was previously senior vice-president of advertising sales at Canwest Limited Partnership. Prior to that, he was advertising vice-president at the National Post. Kevin Bent has been appointed president of the company's Pacific Newspaper Group and executive vice-president for western Canada. He will oversee The Vancouver Sun, The Vancouver Province, the Victoria Times Colonist, the Calgary Herald, the Edmonton Journal and the community publishing group. Bent was previously president and publisher of Pacific Newspaper Group at Canwest. Prior to that, he was senior sales vice-president at Canwest Media Sales. Gordon Fisher has been appointed president of the National Post and executive vice-president for Eastern Canada. He will over see the Ottawa Citizen, The Windsor Star, The Saskatoon StarPhoenix, the Regina Leader-Post and The Montreal Gazette. Fisher was previously publisher of the National Post and president of news and information at Canwest Global Communications. Malcolm Kirk has been appointed executive vice-president of digital media. He will oversee the company's online properties. Kirk was previously senior vice-president and group publisher of the Prairie region of Canwest and editor-in-chief of the Calgary Herald. Doug Lamb has been appointed chief financial officer and executive vice-president. He will also oversee the information technology, human resources and legal departments. Lamb was previously executive vice-president and chief financial officer of Canwest Limited Partnership. Prior to that, he was chief financial officer of the Canadian operations of Canwest Mediaworks.
