Capital One Canada begins charity fraud awareness promotion

Credit card company Capital One Canada has begun a promotion intended to raise awareness of charity fraud. The initiative is being conducted in association with online donation service CanadaHelps to coincide with Fraud Prevention Month. The promotion consists of an online quiz located at <http://www.canadahelps.org> intended to educate consumers about the signs of charity fraud. Each visitor who complete the quiz will be entered into a draw for a $20,000 donation to a charity of the winner's choice. The promotion will run until the end of the month. "Our partnership with CanadaHelps allows us to reach out to the non-profit sector to share best practices on proper storing and handling of personal financial information," said Laurel Ostfield, spokesperson for Capital One Canada. "All of these efforts help us to educate Canadians about the risks of charity fraud, so they can donate safely to legitimate causes that support our communities."
