OLYMPIC EVENT LOOKING FOR SPONSORS

Produce Her Inc. of Toronto is looking for sponsors for the 1996 Canadian Olympic Gala being aired on CBC-TV on July 19. Sponsorship packages range in price from $200 to $5,000 and include special televised thanks in the closing credits, commemorative certificates signed by Olympians and copies of the Olympic CD which was launched earlier this month. The purpose of the event is to announce the athlete who will carry the Canadian flag and lead the Canadian team into the Olympic stadium during the opening ceremony. The one-hour event will be hosted by actor Leslie Nielsen and Quebec TV personality Sonia Benezra. Canadian artists performing during the show include Ashley MacIssaac, Bass is Base, Brent Carver, Celine Dion and David Foster. Liberty Silver and an Atlanta gospel choir will perform the Canadian Olympic song, The Best You Can Be. The Canadian Olympic Association is participating in the event. Sponsors must contact Produce Her by the morning of July 18.

Produce Her Inc. launched a Canadian Olympic CD earlier this month. Featuring artists such as Rita MacNeil, Bass is Base and Ashley MacIssac, the CD is available through a 1-800 number, Sam the Record Man retail outlets and Amway Distributors across Canada. Print advertising in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa support the launch. It was created in-house. The 800 services are provided by TransActive Communications of Toronto.

TransActive Communications launched a call-in sweepstakes contest earlier this month to send two people to the closing ceremony of the Olympics. Participants call a 1-900 number promoted in Toronto Sun print ads and Pizza Hut placemats to become eligible for instant daily prizes of two movie passes from Famous Players theatres, a $2,500 prize or the grand prize for a trip for two to the closing ceremony. Prizes were also supplied by Tribute Magazine and Adventure House Travel. The print ads for the contest were created by Sun Publishing of Toronto. The placemats were done by Carson Young Design Associates of Markham, Ont.
