CRTC releases Communications Monitoring Report

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has issued its second annual Communications Monitoring Report, which provides information on the Canadian broadcasting and telecommunications industries. According to the report, during the 12-month period which ended on Aug, 31, 2008, broadcasting revenue totalled $14 billion. This represents a 7.3% increase over the previous year. Revenue from the delivery of television services increased from $6.3 billion to $7 billion over the same period. Revenue from commercial television services increased by 4% to $5.5 billion, while revenue from private conventional television broadcasters decreased 1.5% to $2.14 billion. Revenue from private commercial radio broadcasters increased 5% to $1.58 billion.
