The Canadian Tourism Commission is conducting a program called "Connecting with Canadians," during which international athletes and their families will visit Canada to meet local citizens before returning to compete in the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Vancouver. The commission will then use this material in international media markets to promote tourism to Canada. This week, downhill skier Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong, the only member of the Ghanaian Olympic team, will visit British Columbia and Quebec. "We are very pleased that Kwame and his family have arrived to experience the beauty of Whistler and Quebec for themselves," said Michele McKenzie, president and CEO of the commission. "Seeing Canada through their eyes is a way to share our tourism message with the world and just one more way the 2010 Winter Games are helping to put the spotlight on Canada."
