Firkin Group of Pubs resumes student debt contest

The Toronto-based Firkin Group of Pubs has resumed a contest promotion introduced last year called "Say FU2 student debt." During the contest, students can submit videos describing moments of personal achievement to a website at <http://www.firkinuniversity.com>. Public voting will determine 25 finalists. Five winners selected by a voting panel will receive $5,000 toward paying down their student loans. "Students work hard to earn their degree, but there is not enough support for them when they finish school," said Larry Isaacs of the Firkin Group. "Firkin is proud to be able to help worthy students and graduates kick start their careers by relieving some of the pressure to pay back their loans." The contest is being promotes with radio commercials, point-of-purchase materials and out-of-home ads developed by Jan Kelley Marketing. GCI Group will conduct a public relations campaign including online activities on Facebook, Twitter and various blogs.
