ATCO CHAIRMAN NAMED OUTSTANDING CEO

Edmonton-based ATCO Ltd. chairman and CEO Ronald Southern has been named Outstanding CEO of the Year for 1996. The award recognizes the CEO of a private or public Canadian corporation who has made an outstanding contribution to Canada's global competitiveness. Other criteria include the CEO's sense of vision, leadership, innovation and social responsibility. Southern founded ATCO with his father in 1947. It had over $1.7 billion in sales in 1995. ATCO has also donated money to universities and medical and engineering facilities. ATCO ships mobile housing units to 75 countries, sells natural gas, electricity and water through its subsidiary Canadian Utilities, and markets management and technical services with its third division, Frontec Corp. The award is sponsored by Canada Post Corp., The Caldwell Partners, The Financial Post and CTV Television Network.
