Pizza Hut begins Pasta Hut promotion

Restaurant chain Pizza Hut has begun a promotion in support of a new line of menu items called Tuscani Pastas. During the promotion, the chain will refer to itself in its communications as Pasta Hut. The launch campaign includes television advertising, plus product sampling conducted by promotional workers. Passers-by will be invited to try the pasta before being told that it comes from Pizza Hut. "We really want to drive home the fact that Pizza Hut is about more than great pizza," said CEO Jon Prinsell. "We're so proud of the taste, quality and value of our new Tuscani Pastas that we're changing our name to Pasta Hut. It's only a temporary change for now, but you never know, depending on public reaction to our pastas, the name might just stick." Pizza Hut has 320 franchised restaurants in Canada. Pizza Hut is a subsidiary of Yum Brands.
