TOSHIBA EXPANDS NOTEBOOK LINE

Markham, Ont.-based Toshiba of Canada will add seven new notebook computers to the Canadian market next month. The new machines are in the Satellite, Satellite Pro 420, Tecra and Portége series' of computers. The Satellite series has two new models: the 110CS and the 110CT. These low-priced machines have 100 megahertz Pentium processors and two PC Card slots for optional fax/modems, hard disk drives and networking devices. The Satellite Pro 420 series has two new models: the 420CDS and the 420CDT. Each features a 100 megahertz Intel Pentium processor and multimedia capabilities including optional full motion video. The Tecra series also has two new machines: the 500CS and 500CDT. Both are targeted at executives and professionals. Both are equipped with Intel 120 megahertz Pentium processors, built-in data/fax/voice modems, multimedia capabilities and1.26 gigabyte hard drives. The new Portége 650CT computer is an ultra-portable machine which has a 133 megahertz Pentium processor and weighs 4.8 pounds. National print advertising for the machines began this week.
