Nestle begins Smarties packaging contest

Nestlé Canada has begun a contest promotion called "Gimme Colour" in support of its Smarties brand of candy. During the national contest, consumers will be invited to design the packaging for the product using a set of online tools located at <http://www.smarties.ca>. To promote the contest, for a limited time Smarties will be distributed in plain black and white packages. Each package contains an ID number that must be submitted to the site to enter. The designs of the ten winners will be used on Smarties boxes in 2008. The contest will run from July 16 to Dec. 12. "We want to give Canadians the opportunity to express their true selves, so we are inviting them to think outside the Smarties box," said Paul Hodges, marketing manager at Nestlé Canada. "Gimme Colour allows you to celebrate your individuality with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see your design on thousands of Smarties boxes nationwide."
