Sharp breaks new Aquos campaign

Mississauga-based Sharp Electronics Canada has begun a new advertising campaign in support of its Aquos line of large flat panel television sets. The campaign, which consists of television, print and online advertising, uses the tagline, “With Sharp Aquos there is always more to see. The initiative is an extension of the company’s “Details” campaign that ran in September. The television commercial shows various people from around the world watching a golf tournament on an Aquos set. The player hits the ball into the rough. The tournament officials fail to find the ball, but the television viewers can see it due to the sharp picture. The commercial will air in major Canadian markets nationally from November to January, mainly on specialty channels including HGTV, ROB-TV, TSN, RDS and Space. The print ad, which also makes use of the lost golf ball scenario, will run this month in consumer magazines and newspapers nationally, including Globe & Mail Home Magazine, Time Canada, Marketnews, L’actualité and Les Affaires. The online component will include ads on Canada.com, AskMen.com, Sympatico MSN and IFilm.com. The ads in all media direct viewers to a website located at <http://www.moretosee.com>. Other elements of the campaign include sponsorships, contests and cross-promotions with several retail chains. “High-definition flat-panel LCD televisions deliver, hands down, the highest quality viewing experience in the market today,” said Carmine Cinerari, vice-president of the consumer products division at Sharp Canada. “This campaign highlights the advantages of the Sharp Aquos technology that truly sets it apart from the competition.” The creative was developed by Wieden & Kennedy of Portland, OR.
