Ontario begins Equality Rules campaign

The Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration has begun a new campaign aimed at children aged eight to 14 intended to encourage equal relationships between boys and girls. The educational campaign centres on a website located at EqualityRules.ca, supported by television and cinema advertising. The ads depict scenarios that illustrate harmful behaviour and attitudes that can lead to violence against women and girls. They also depict alternate ways to handle similar situations. “This pioneering campaign will empower young people to develop the positive behaviours necessary for healthy relationships in their teenage and adult years,” said Sandra Pupatello, Minister Responsible for Women's Issues. “EqualityRules.ca speaks the language of youth to help them recognize and respond to attitudes and behaviours that are unhealthy versus those that are healthy.”
