Sharp holds online contest for golfers

Mississauga-based Sharp Electronics Canada has begun a national online contest aimed at golfers. The contest, called the "Sharp Aquos Championship Golf Giveaway II," is in support of the company Aquos line of flat panel television sets. "Following the success of previous golf-themed promotions and based on Sharp's ongoing market analysis, we know there is a clear tie between Sharp Aquos customers and people who enjoy golf," said Chris Matto, marketing manager for consumer electronics at Sharp Canada. Until Aug. 25, consumers can enter the contest by visiting <http://www.sharpgolf.ca>. The grand prize winner and three friends will receive 46" Aquos television sets, plus a trip to Toronto for two nights to play a round of golf at Glen Abbey and Blue Springs. They will also receive custom-fitted sets of Callaway golf clubs. Twelve other prize packages will also be awarded, as will a number of instant-win prizes. The company has also begun a national campaign to promote the contest consisting of television advertising during golf broadcasts on TSN, accompanied by online advertising and in-store materials. The contest and the promotion are being conducted by Promotivate International of Toronto.
