Toronto-based specialty channel TSN has launched a new Web-based service called TSN Interactive that is designed to be accessed by viewers during the channel’s sports broadcasts. The service, which can be reached through <http://www.tsn.ca>, will be incorporated into all the channel’s CFL broadcasts during the 2006 season. Viewers can use the service to retrieve information about the players, engage in chat rooms, play mini-games and participate in game-related polls. Users can also compete with other viewers by choosing a team and predicting various plays and calls during the game. Participants can also gain points by answering trivia questions. “This is a major step forward in sports for combined online and broadcast technology in Canada,” said Phil King, president of TSN. “TSN Interactive will directly enhance the television experience for CFL fans, allowing them to connect with the game and each other in a fun and competitive online environment.” Molson has signed on as the sponsor of the service, which was developed in association with Tandberg Television.
