CANADA TRUST TAKES COMPUTER BANKING NATIONAL
By Adnews Staff
Canada Trust is rolling out its personal computer banking service nationally on May 21. Called CTConnect, the service lets users check account balances, transfer money, pay bills and write cheques rom home. Radio, newspaper and direct mail advertising created by Cormark Communications of London, Ont. will support the launch. Media Buying Services of Toronto is doing the media buy. Customers will receive the service for free for three months, after which it will cost $7.95 a month. The system avoids security fears by operating through a direct connection, not an open network. Also data is encrypted so that a password is required to access information. The service has been tested in Burlington, Ont. since last October.
