U.S ACURA ACCOUNT IN REVIEW

The American Honda Motor Company has put its Acura luxury car business up for grabs. The business has been with Ketchum Advertising's Los Angeles office for almost 12 years and the agency intends to fight to keep the account. A decision is expected in mid-summer. In Canada, Honda will continue using Ambrose Carr Linton Carroll of Toronto for both its Acura and Honda divisions, Canadian automobile sales and marketing senior vice-president Jim Miller told Adnews yesterday. ACLC has had the Canadian Acura division since 1980. In March it was given the rest of the Canadian Honda business. Miller said that Honda moved all its Canadian business because the agency had a closer U.S. agency connection than did Honda's Canadian shop at the time, Doner Schur Peppler. ACLC had done a lot of joint Acura shoots with Ketchum.
