Whistler, Tourism Kelowna trademark logos

Vancouver-based Traction Creative Communications has been retained by the Resort Municipality of Whistler and Tourism Kelowna to handle the process of trademarking their logos and marketing official branded merchandise. The two organizations plan to pursue licensing agreements with manufacturers using these marks. “We saw an opportunity for our clients to secure an official identity that will strengthen their brand in global marketing efforts and give them another way to connect with the consumer,” said Traction president Larry Donen. “To the best of my knowledge, no other city in North America has licensed their brand in this manner.” Both logos will make use of tree boughs forming a stylized W over the name “Whistler.” The Resort Municipality of Whistler merchandise will use the new tagline, “True Local.” The Tourism Kelowna logo was developed by Wasserman & Partners Advertising and Traction last year. This merchandise will display the taglines “Ripe with surprises” and “Authentic Kelowna.”
