The Toronto-based Association of Canadian Advertisers as awarded Ed Marra its ACA Gold Medal Award for 2005. The award is intended to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of marketing communications. Marra began his 30-year career in the consumer food industry at Robin Hood Multifoods in 1976. In 1981 he joined Nestlé Canada, where he remained until his retirement in 2005. During that time he held various executive positions in Canada, the US and Europe, including president and CEO of Nestlé Canada, president of Nestlé USA’s beverage division and general manager of Stouffer’s USA. Most recently, he was executive vice-president of strategic business units and marketing for Nestlé in Switzerland.

Vancouver-based credit union Coast Capital Savings has been named Marketer of the Year by the B.C. chapter of the American Marketing Association. The annual award recognizes outstanding integrated marketing strategies in the British Columbia. Coast Capital Savings won the award for a campaign promoting its chequing accounts, mortgages and branches. The association cited the campaign’s success in increasing consumer awareness, gaining new customer raising profits as the main factors in the decision of the judging panel. The creative for the campaign was produced by Rethink Advertising.
