ROGERS HAS NEW PAGING SERVICE

If you see someone looking at his or her pager and then rushing off to call a broker, chances are the person has one of Rogers Cantel's new TradeAlert pagers. The device, launched by Toronto-based Cantel earlier this month, keeps its owners posted as the prices of selected stocks rise and fall during the day, as well as alerting them when there is heavy share trading. National print advertising for the pager is supporting the launch. Rogers put two Chinese dailies in the media plan because its research shows that 20% to 25% of Chinese people have at least one pager. Advertising was created and translated by The Howard Group of Calgary. The pager beeps, chimes or vibrates when specified stocks reach certain prices or trading volumes. TradeAlert monitors all North American exchanges, including those in the U.S. handling over-the-counter stocks. It doesn't provide continuous information on all stocks throughout the day but it will provide closing figures. The pager can also be used for regular messages.
