TOYOTA TARGETS YOUNG EMOTIONS

Toyota Canada is aiming at the heart instead of the head with a national TV spot which broke last week for its Tercel Sport and Paseo models. There was no need to clutter the commercial with facts because "Toyota is already the confirmed quality leader," says a release from the agency which did the commercial, Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising in Toronto. Young actors convey the commercial's message with body language and emotionally charged words, against a background of rock music, in an attempt to hit the right chords with the target audience of 18 to 34-year-olds. The commercial is slated to run until the end of May.
