TV TIMES ADDS SUPPLEMENTS

Toronto-based Southam Inc. is adding more supplements to its weekly TV Times magazine to gain more advertisers. This year it will expand its fall TV preview insert. In the past it just covered new shows on the fall schedule, but this year it will add profiles of rising stars and established actors. Other supplements will focus on TV and its changing role in the home, and popular cars that have been used in TV programs. The first supplement was distributed last weekend, sponsored by Hostess Frito-Lay and created by BBDO Canada of Toronto. The eight-page insert was called the Absolutely Unbelievable Hostess Guide to the Academy Awards. The guide included editorial on the great and not-so-great moments of the Oscars, the best and worst dressed celebrities, a fashion trend watch, ideas for Oscar parties and trivia questions. The back page had an Oscar score card so viewers could pick their own winners and keep track as the academy's choices were announced during the telecast.
