BETA LOOKING FOR AD SHOP

Toronto-based Beta Brands will be looking for an ad agency in May for the candy it bought from Hershey Canada, president Chris Brown told Adnews this week. A choice will be made by September. Beta bought Life Savers, Breath Savers and Beechnut cough drops from Hershey in January. When the brands were with Hershey, DDB Needham Worldwide of Toronto handled advertising. Hershey sold the brands because its U.S. parent had rights to these products only in Canada and the company wants to focus on goods it can market worldwide. Beta sells bulk chocolate to stores and makes private label chocolates, including President's Choice for Loblaw's and Master Choice for A&P.
