HEART INSTITUTE LOOKING FOR LOW-FAT FOOD MAKERS

The University of Ottawa Heart Institute seeking food manufacturers to help promote the consumption of low-fat food. If the Heart Institute determines a food is heart friendly the manufacturer will be able to put the Heart Institute's logo on packaging. The institute would also like manufacturers to put information about heart-healthy food inside packages bearing its seal of approval. The Heart Institute is also asking for royalties from the sales of food carrying its logo. According to a 1995 study by the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors, consumers consider fat content their biggest nutritional concern.
