H-P PROFIT GROWING
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Hewlett Packard's profits soared 31% in the first quarter, ending Jan. 31 this year. Orders rose 29% over the same quarter a year ago and net revenue increased 27%. Part of the reason for the increase is a growing international market, H-P chairman Lewis Platt says in a release. Growth in the company's PC business was also good. Computer orders for the quarter increased 32% to $8.3 billion. Orders for all goods, including printers and personal organizers, were $10.1 billion(US) in the first quarter, compared with $7.8 billion a year earlier.
