SATELLITE TV GUIDE PUBLISHER RUNS ADS

Satellite Entertainment Guide of Edmonton is going to advertise its two North American satellite TV guides for the first time. Satellite decided its marketing has to get more aggressive because the competition is getting tougher and other books are stealing its sales. The monthly publications, Satellite Entertainment Guide and DirectGuide, only began carrying advertising themselves in February. Satellite gave its ad account to Shibinsky McAuliffe Solway of Toronto last week without a competition. The agency approached Satellite and convinced the company its publications would benefit from advertising, agency vice-president and creative director Stan Shibinsky told Adnews this week. Satellite Entertainment Guide has been published for 13 years. Its circulation is over 150,000. The magazine lists TV programs for consumers with large satellite dishes. DirectGUIDE has been published for three months. It carries program listings for people with the 18-inch Direct Satellite System dish. Both magazines are sold at newsstands and by subscription.
