CANADIAN AIRLINES DOWN TO FOUR

Four agencies are each hoping to take off with Canadian Airlines in April. The airline now has a short list for the $11-million-plus account: Vickers & Benson Advertising, Gee, Jeffery & Partners Advertising and Ogilvy & Mather, all of Toronto, and BCP of Montreal. Presentations will be made in mid-April and a decision will follow shortly after that. The airline hasn't decided yet if it will consolidate everything with one agency or hire individual shops for various parts of the account, such as direct marketing, the French market and promotions. The airline's main agency at the moment is TBWA/Chiat Day of Toronto, while BCP has the Quebec market and O&M Direct does direct marketing.
