MATTRESS CHAIN MOVES INTO ONTARIO

Sleep Country Canada of Vancouver moved into Ontario last weekend, opening 10 superstores in the Toronto area, where it plans to open another 10 in the middle of the year. Sleep Country sells 50 different kinds of mattresses and a limited number of frames and headboards. The company began running TV and radio advertising in Vancouver and the Toronto area last week, created by Catalyst Communications of Vancouver. The ads feature company president Christine Magee. Media buying is done by Initiative Media of Toronto. Sleep Country has 12 outlets in British Columbia. The company is owned by a group of Canadian investors who pay royalties to Seattle-based Sleep Country USA to use the chain's name and advertising jingle.
