HYPN DRIVING WITH PUROLATOR

Harrison, Young, Pesonen & Newell of Toronto has been given the media buying account for Purolator Courier. The agency won the business in a competition with Media Buying Services and Initiative Media, both of Toronto. "We chose HYPN because of their reputation, overall service package and perceived fit with Purolator's management," says marketing director John MacDonald in a release. The ad budget for Purolator is over $4 million. Lowe/SMS of Toronto was handling creative and media until the Mississauga, Ont.-based courier firm restructured its marketing department. Purolator decided to split up the creative and media portions of the account because it wanted to make a "clear division of advertising tasks," MacDonald says. Earlier this month the company moved the creative portion of the account to Bensimon/Byrne of Toronto on an interim basis. Purolator says it changed creative agencies because it wants to move from highlighting its products to focusing on customer service. Purolator knows Bensimon/Byrne president Jack Bensimon from his days at Lowe/SMS, which was called Scali, McCabe, Sloves at the time.
