TOBACCO ADS STILL O.K. IN EUROPE

Health ministers from the 14 European Union member states can't agree on a tobacco ad ban. Germany, the U.K., Denmark, the Netherlands and Greece voted against a proposed ban, while all others favored it. The EC predicts an eventual ban, possibly after the next U.K. election. The Labour Party is expected to win and it favors putting a stop to cigarette ads. Tobacco advertisers spent $348.3 million in Europe last year, according to the European Association of Advertising Agencies.
