AT&T BIGGEST WEB AD SPENDER

U.S. companies spent $12.4 million(US) to advertise on the World Wide Web in the fourth quarter of the year, according to a survey by WebTrack Information Services of New York. AT&T was the top spender, buying ads worth $567,000. The telecommunications company was followed by Netscape Communications, which spent $556,000. On-line shopping mall Internet Shopping Network was the next big spender. It bought $329,000 worth of ads. The rest of the top 10 spenders included Microsoft, MCI Communications, American Airlines and the on-line magazine HotWired. The figures given in the study are based on companies paying full price for ads. They do not take into account discounts or barter deals.
