ADPULSE LAUNCHES TRANSACTIONAL INTERNET ADVERTISING

AdPulse Inc., a division of Toronto-based TargetNet Inc., in cooperation with indigo.ca, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Indigo Books, Music & More, has launched an e-commerce-enabled advertising campaign on the arts & entertainment section of toronto.com. AdPulse, which offers targeted advertising and e-commerce solutions, is selling third-party products on host websites without the consumer having to leave the host site. Previously, Web users who clicked on ad banners were sent to the advertiser's website for more information and the opportunity to buy. AdPulse makes it possible for consumers to make a purchase immediately when viewing an advertisement that expands after being clicked. Hannibal, the best-selling novel by Thomas Harris, is the first product being tested in the campaign that will be expanded to include other book selections and merchandise. According to Ted Boyd, president of the Internet Advertising Bureau of Canada and indigo.ca, never before has a product been sold to consumers directly from a banner.
