NEXTMEDIA WATCHING THE ABORIGINAL PEOPLES TELEVISION NETWORK

The APTN Aboriginal Peoples Television Network of Ottawa will launch nation-wide on September 1. To prepare for the launch and create a campaign designed to raise awareness of the network, APTN has named NextMedia of Toronto as its agency targeting mainstream audiences. Poirier Communications of Ottawa will also be working with the network, creating an awareness campaign targeted to the aboriginal population. "NextMedia worked with APTN during the license application process, helping to develop program policies and gain much needed support from the Canadian production community," said Jennifer David, director of communications for APTN. The awareness campaign from NextMedia will run in conjunction with the launch of the network in the Fall. Although plans have not been confirmed, Melissa Gronsdahl, senior communications consultant, NextMedia, told Adnews the campaign will be primarily print with some outdoor advertising in select markets across the country.
