XEROX HAS HIGH HOPES FOR NEW MACHINES
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Xerox Corporation is introducing two printer/copiers designed for office computer networks to the North American market. One new model, the Document Centre 20, is available this week. It can print 20 pages per minute and is intended for work groups of about 20 desktop computer users. The 35 model will be available next month. It prints 35 pages per minute and could be used for groups of up to 50 people. In Canada, print advertising will begin by November. Xerox isn't sure yet if it will use the U.S. creative, and have Young & Rubicam's Toronto office localize it, or if it will run Canadian-made creative. Xerox is hoping to make as big a score with the Document Centre as it has with the Docutech high speed printer. Introduced in 1990, this machine now brings in more than $1 billion in annual sales, says Xerox. The Docutech is generally used by printing shops.
