TAMBRANDS INTRODUCES ALL COTTON TAMPON

Tambrands of White Plains, New York is launching its first all-cotton tampon in the U.S. in January. Although such tampons are available in health food stores, the new Tampax Naturals brand is the first one sold nationally. Tambrands says cotton has the image of being cleaner and more comfortable. A New York University study found that the viscose rayon used in most other tampons could be linked to toxic shock syndrome, reports The Wall Street Journal. Tambrands will evaluate how well the new product does in the U.S. before deciding whether to bring it to Canada, U.S.-based spokesperson Bruce Garren told Adnews last week. TV and print advertising, along with promotions, will begin in February. The ad agency is BBDO Worldwide of New York.
