CIBC LAUNCHES NEW COMMERCIAL FOR YOUTH BANKING

CIBC is launching a new television commercial that is targeted at the financial needs of tweens aged 9-14 years. The commercial, called "Way More Than a Bank Account", promotes the CIBC SmartStart program. The program is a collection of services, products and tools designed to help kids become financially prepared adults. The 30-second spot will broadcast during YAA The YTV Achievement Awards June 6. CIBC worked with YTV Canada Inc. in Toronto to produce the spot's creative. According to CIBC, their expertise in providing banking advice to and options for kids and parents combined with YTV's added experience in communicating with youth and their parents resulted in a perfect match. "Parents are busy and ready-made programs that can help them help their kids have high appeal. So we created 'Way More Than A Bank Account', a spot geared towards educating parents and kids about the SmartStart program's products and educational tools," CIBC's general manager for the youth/emerging customer segment, Tricia Barry said. CIBC's SmartStart program is one of its two youth focused initiatives. The second, Youthvision, supports programs that combine research, education, funding and job programs aimed at helping young people stay in school and prepare for the future.
