LEO BURNETT LAYS OFF EMPLOYEES

Toronto-based Leo Burnett Co. has had lay off 13 employees because of its loss of the Bell Canada account this summer. "We said at the time that we would not act prematurely, but rather take until early fall to fully analyze the impact on our business," agency president and CEO Jim MacKenzie says in a release. "We have now completed this process and have minimized the reduction of staff." Leo Burnett says more employees may have been laid off if the agency hadn't won new accounts such as the Four Seasons, Star Choice and Walt Disney. Prior to the lay offs, Leo Burnett employed 205 people.
